Why a chatbot struggles with an Urdu WhatsApp chat
A WhatsApp export is a ZIP file: a text file of the typed messages plus one audio file for every voice note. A chat assistant can read typed text you paste in, but it cannot open the voice notes inside the export, and a family chat between Pakistan and relatives abroad can hold hundreds of them.
Urdu chats are also written in two ways at once. Most people type in Roman Urdu, Urdu in English letters, while the voice notes are spoken Urdu, often with English words and sometimes Punjabi mixed in. The tool keeps typed messages exactly as they were typed and writes each voice note in the language spoken: Urdu in Urdu script, English in English.
Urdu or Hindi?
Spoken Urdu and Hindi are very close, and a short voice note can sound like either. The PDF shows the language detected for each note, and the note is written in that language's script. The English translation underneath reads the same either way. The first part of the chat is free, so look at a few notes there before you pay.
What people bring
- Chats for a spouse or family visa, where the officer needs English; for a monthly sample of a long relationship, see Chat Logs for a Spouse Visa on this site
- Family and property matters handled by a lawyer in Pakistan or abroad
- Voice notes from parents and grandparents, kept as text the family can reread
- Agreements made by voice with a builder, landlord, employer or supplier
How to export the chat from your phone
- Open the chat in WhatsApp, tap the name at the top, then Export chat
- Choose to include media, so the voice notes are inside the export
- Save the ZIP (iPhone) or the text file and media (Android) and upload it here
- English is already chosen under "Also translate"; change it or switch it off if you prefer
How the tool works, what it costs and how your files are handled is on the WhatsApp Chat to PDF page; prices for every tool are on the pricing page.

Questions and answers
Can it transcribe Urdu voice notes that mix in English?
Yes. Mixed speech is written as spoken: the Urdu parts in Urdu script and the English parts in English. Nothing is converted into one language unless you ask for a translation.
Can I get the Urdu in Roman letters?
Not at the moment. Voice notes are written in Urdu script, which is the most exact record. The English translation under each message is there for readers who do not read Urdu script.
Is the English translation good enough for a visa application?
It is a machine translation, printed under the original. Many applications ask for a translation by a professional translator; the PDF gives that translator a complete, searchable starting point. For visa evidence, Chat Logs for a Spouse Visa adds a blank translator certification page.
How much does it cost for a long chat?
The first part of the chat is free without an account. The whole chat, up to 10,000 messages with all its voice notes, is $5, paid once. Unlimited covers chats of up to 30,000 messages. A chat of up to 150 messages, with up to 5 minutes of voice messages, is free in full, downloads included.
