Outlook PST, MSG and OLM to PDF, without Outlook

Upload an Outlook data file (.pst or .ost), the .msg emails you saved, or an Outlook for Mac .olm export, and get one PDF: every email in date order with its Outlook folder, subject, sender, recipients and date, the full text and a list of attachments. It works on a Mac, a Chromebook or a phone, with no Outlook installed. The first emails are free, with no sign-up. The whole mailbox costs $5: one payment, no subscription.

What you get back

One PDF of the whole Outlook file or folder, laid out to be read, printed or handed to a lawyer. A cover page says which file it was made from, how many emails it holds, the period it covers and who appears most often. Then every email follows in date order, each in its own section.

  • Each email with its number, its Outlook folder, subject, sender, recipients, copies and date.
  • The full text of each email. Emails that only have an HTML version are converted to plain text, so the words are kept.
  • Attachments listed under each email by file name, type and size. The files themselves are not reproduced in the PDF.
  • If you choose a translation, it appears under the original subject and text. The original always comes first.
  • An index at the end with the number, date, sender and subject of every email, plus the same content as plain text (TXT) and as a spreadsheet (CSV).

A chatbot, Outlook itself, and this tool

ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini are good at reading a few emails you paste in. An Outlook data file is a different thing: a binary database that only Outlook or a dedicated reader can open.

What you need A chatbot This tool
Understanding two or three emails Works well when you paste the text in Not needed for that; use the chatbot
Opening a .pst, .ost or .olm file Cannot read the file format Reads the whole file, up to 5,000 emails per job
Turning 300 saved .msg files into one document You would have to open and paste each one Upload them (or a .zip) and get one PDF in date order
Every email word for word Tends to summarize or skip emails in a long thread Copies the full text of each email, nothing left out
Which folder an email was in Not available The Outlook folder is printed on every email
Proof of which file it came from None SHA-256 fingerprint of your file on the cover

How to turn an Outlook file into one PDF

  1. 1

    Get the Outlook file

Outlook for Windows: File, Open & Export, Import/Export, Export to a file, Outlook Data File (.pst), and pick the folder you need. Outlook for Mac: File, Export, and save the .olm file. Or select emails and drag them to a folder to save them as .msg files, then put them in a .zip.

  2. 2

Upload it and check the first emails free

Drop the .pst, .ost, .olm, .msg or .zip file here. If you only need one folder or one person, type the folder name or their address. No account is needed. The first emails appear on screen once the file is read.

  3. 3

Unlock the whole mailbox and download

Unlock it for $5 and download the PDF, the text file or the spreadsheet.

Why an Outlook file is hard to open without Outlook

A .pst or .ost file is not a list of emails you can read in a text editor. It is a database in a Microsoft format, with folders, messages, recipients and attachments stored in separate structures. A chat assistant cannot open it, and on a Mac or a Chromebook there is usually no Outlook for Windows to open it either. An Outlook for Mac .olm export is a large archive of XML files, and a folder of .msg files is hundreds of separate binary files.

This tool reads all four formats directly. It takes every email out of the file with its folder, decodes the headers and text in whatever character set they were written, lists the attachments, sorts everything by date and lays it out as one document. Email 4,000 gets the same treatment as email 4. No AI model is involved unless you ask for a translation.

What people use it for

  • Giving a lawyer, an employment tribunal or HR the full correspondence from an old work mailbox
  • Reading an old Outlook archive on a Mac, a Chromebook or a new PC without Outlook
  • Turning a pile of .msg emails saved from Outlook into one dated record
  • Keeping the emails of a parent, a partner or a friend who has died as one printable document
  • Reading emails in another language with a translation under each one

Exporting the right emails, and the limits

Uploads can be up to 2 GB. Large Outlook files are common, so export only what you need: in Outlook for Windows, File, Open & Export, Import/Export, Export to a file, Outlook Data File, then choose one folder (for example Inbox or a case folder) and include subfolders if you want them. You can also type a folder name before you start and only that folder is included.

An .ost file is the offline copy Outlook keeps for an Exchange or Microsoft 365 account. It can be read here too, but an export to .pst from Outlook is the more complete copy. Calendar items, contacts and tasks in the file are skipped; only emails are included.

One payment covers up to 5,000 emails; Unlimited covers up to 25,000. If the same email appears twice (same Message-ID), it is included once and the cover says so. If Outlook asks for a password when it opens your file, remove the password in Outlook and export again.

Accuracy, evidence and what this is not

The headers and text are copied from your file, not retyped or rewritten. For emails you received, the original headers stored by Outlook are used; for emails you sent, the sender, recipients and date come from Outlook's own record of the message. Colors, images and layout are not kept, but the words are. Attachments are listed, not reproduced: keep the original file if you need them.

The PDF is a readable record, not a certified copy, and it does not prove on its own that an email was sent or received. Courts and agencies set their own rules for email evidence and may ask for the original messages or the account itself. The SHA-256 fingerprint on the cover lets anyone confirm which file the PDF was made from; keep that file unchanged.

Questions and answers

How do I convert a PST file to PDF without Outlook?

Upload the .pst file here. It is read on our server, so you do not need Outlook or Windows. You get one PDF with every email in date order, its Outlook folder, headers, full text and attachment list. The first emails are free; the whole file is $5.

Can ChatGPT open a PST or OLM file?

No. A .pst file is a binary Outlook database and an .olm file is a large archive, and a chat assistant cannot read either format. Even pasted email text gets summarized when there is a lot of it. This tool reads the file itself and keeps every email word for word.

Can I open a PST file on a Mac?

Yes, with this tool: upload the .pst from your Mac and download the PDF, TXT or CSV. Outlook for Mac uses .olm files for its own exports; those work here too.

Can I merge many .msg files into one PDF?

Yes. Select the .msg files (up to 500) or put them in a .zip, and upload them together. They are sorted by date into one PDF with an index.

Can I convert just one folder?

Yes. Type the folder name, for example Inbox, Sent Items or the name of a subfolder, before you start. Only emails in folders with that name are included.

Are attachments included?

Each attachment is listed under its email with its file name, type and size. The attachment files themselves are not put into the PDF, so keep the original Outlook file if you need them.

How big can the file be?

Uploads can be up to 2 GB. One payment covers up to 5,000 emails and Unlimited up to 25,000. For a very large mailbox, export one folder from Outlook and upload that.

How much does it cost?

The first emails are free without an account. The whole file is $5, paid once, for up to 5,000 emails, with PDF, TXT and CSV downloads. Unlimited costs $19 a week (it renews weekly, cancel any time) and covers every tool on the site. Small jobs are the exception: a mailbox of up to 25 emails is free in full, downloads included.

Are my emails private?

Only you can open your upload. Your emails are sent to an AI model only when you choose a translation, ask a question about the file or run an AI search; then the text is sent to a model provider only for that task, through routes that do not use your data for training. Uploads made without an account are deleted after 7 days, and you can delete a job and its files yourself at any time.
