Email to PDF

Email export to PDF: a whole mailbox as one readable record

Upload the .mbox file from Google Takeout, or .eml files saved from Outlook or Apple Mail, and get one PDF: every email in date order with its subject, sender, recipients and date exactly as in the headers, the full text, and a list of attachments. The first emails are free, with no sign-up. The whole mailbox costs $5: one payment, no subscription. A chatbot cannot open a large mailbox file and tends to summarize a long thread; this tool copies every email word for word.

Turn an email export into a PDF

Leave it empty to include every email in the file.

Each translation is printed under the original email, so both stay on the record.

No sign-up. The first emails are free. The whole mailbox $5, one payment.

What you get back

One PDF of the whole mailbox or label, laid out to be read, printed or handed to a lawyer. A cover page says which file it was made from, how many emails it holds, the period it covers and who appears most often. Then every email follows in date order, each in its own section.

  • Each email with its number, subject, sender, recipients, copies and date copied from its headers. Dates are not converted to another time zone or format.
  • The full text of each email. Quoted replies stay as the sender left them, so a thread can be followed message by message.
  • Attachments listed under each email by file name, type and size. The files themselves are not reproduced in the PDF.
  • If you choose a translation, it appears under the original subject and text. The original always comes first.
  • An index at the end with the number, date, sender and subject of every email.
  • The same content as plain text (TXT) and as a spreadsheet (CSV) with one row per email.

A chatbot, printing emails one by one, and this tool

ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini are good at reading a few emails you paste in. The trouble starts when you need the whole correspondence, in order, as a document someone else can rely on.

What you need A chatbot This tool
Understanding two or three emails Works well when you paste them in Not needed for that; use the chatbot
Opening a Gmail Takeout .mbox file Large mailbox files are often too big to upload or read in full Reads the whole file, up to 5,000 emails per job
Every email word for word Tends to summarize or skip emails in a long thread Copies the full text of each email, nothing left out
Exact senders, recipients and dates May rephrase or reorder them Copied from the headers and sorted by date
A document to share or print Text in a chat window One PDF with a cover page, attachment lists and an index
Proof of which export it came from None SHA-256 fingerprint of your file on the cover

How to turn your emails into one PDF

  1. 1

    Export the emails

Gmail: put the emails you need under one label, then use Google Takeout to export Mail for that label only; it gives you a .zip with an .mbox file inside. Outlook or Apple Mail: save the emails as .eml files, or export the mailbox, and put them in a .zip.

  2. 2

Upload it and check the first emails free

Drop the .zip, .mbox or .eml files here. If you only need emails with one person, type their address. Choose a translation if you need one. No account is needed. The first emails appear on screen in a few seconds.

  3. 3

Unlock the whole mailbox and download

Unlock it for $5 and download the PDF, the text file or the spreadsheet.

Why chat assistants struggle with a mailbox export

A Gmail export is one large .mbox file: thousands of emails one after another, each with technical headers, encoded text and attachments packed inside it. Many uploads are far larger than a chat assistant will accept, and even when it can read part of the file, a reply in a chat window has a practical size limit. Ask for a whole correspondence and you tend to get a summary, a sample, or a list that stops partway through.

This tool takes the file apart the way it is built. It separates every email, decodes its headers and text in whatever character set it was written, lists its attachments, sorts everything by date and lays it out as one document. Email 4,000 gets the same treatment as email 4. No AI model is involved unless you ask for a translation.

What people use it for

  • Giving a lawyer, mediator or HR team the full correspondence with one person, in order
  • Preparing emails with a landlord, employer, builder or business for a dispute or a complaint
  • Keeping the emails of a parent or friend who has died as one document you can print
  • Reading emails in another language with a translation under each one
  • Searching a long correspondence for a date, an amount or a promise

Exporting the right emails, and the limits

Uploads can be up to 2 GB. A full Gmail export is often much bigger, so export only what you need: in Gmail, search for the person or topic, select the results, apply a new label (for example the name of your case), then in Google Takeout choose Mail, open "All Mail data included", untick "Include all messages in Mail" and pick that label. Takeout sends a .zip; upload it as it is.

Outlook .pst and .msg files are not supported. In Outlook for Mac you can drag emails to a folder to save them as .eml files; in Outlook on the web you can download a message as .eml. For a whole Outlook mailbox, Thunderbird can import it, and its free ImportExportTools NG add-on exports a folder as .mbox or .eml. In Apple Mail, use Mailbox, then Export Mailbox, and upload the exported folder as a .zip.

One payment covers up to 5,000 emails; Unlimited covers up to 25,000. If the same email appears twice in your upload (same Message-ID), it is included once and the cover says so.

Accuracy, evidence and what this is not

The headers and text are copied from your file, not retyped or rewritten. Emails that only have an HTML version are converted to plain text, so colors, images and layout are not kept, but the words are. Attachments are listed, not reproduced: keep the original files if you need them. Translations, if you choose one, are machine translations and are marked as such.

The PDF is a readable record, not a certified copy, and it does not prove on its own that an email was sent or received. Courts and agencies set their own rules for email evidence and may ask for the original messages or the account itself. The SHA-256 fingerprint on the cover lets anyone confirm which export file the PDF was made from; keep that file unchanged.

Questions and answers

How do I export my Gmail for a lawyer?

Put the relevant emails under one Gmail label, export Mail for that label with Google Takeout, and upload the .zip here. You get one PDF with every email in date order, its headers, full text and attachment list, plus a cover page with the SHA-256 fingerprint of the file. The first emails are free; the whole export is $5.

Can ChatGPT convert an MBOX file to PDF?

Not reliably. A mailbox file is often too large to upload to a chat assistant, and a long correspondence gets summarized or cut off in the reply. This tool reads every email in the file and lays them all out in one PDF, word for word.

Can I upload an Outlook PST file?

No. PST and MSG files are not supported. Save the emails as .eml files (Outlook for Mac and Outlook on the web can do this), or import the mailbox into Thunderbird and export the folder as .mbox with the free ImportExportTools NG add-on, then upload that.

Can I include only the emails with one person?

Yes. Type their email address or name in the optional field before you start, and only emails where it appears in From, To or Cc are included. For a cleaner export, label just those emails in Gmail and export that label.

Are attachments included?

Each attachment is listed under its email with its file name, type and size. The attachment files themselves are not put into the PDF, so keep the originals if you need them.

How big can the file be?

Uploads can be up to 2 GB. One payment covers up to 5,000 emails and Unlimited up to 25,000. If your Gmail export is larger, export one label instead of the whole mailbox.

Is the PDF accepted as evidence?

That is for the court or agency to decide. The PDF copies each email's headers and text exactly and carries a SHA-256 fingerprint of your export file, but it is not a certified copy. Ask your lawyer what they need; many also ask for the original emails.

How much does it cost?

The first emails are free without an account. The whole export is $5, paid once, for up to 5,000 emails, with PDF, TXT and CSV downloads. Unlimited costs $29 a month or $180 a year and covers every tool on the site.

Are my emails private?

Only you can open your upload. Your emails are not sent to any AI model unless you choose a translation; then the text is sent to a model provider only to translate it, through routes that do not use your data for training. Uploads made without an account are deleted after 7 days, and you can delete a job and its files yourself at any time.
