Hinglish, the way people actually speak
Office meetings, coaching classes and family calls in Hindi are full of English: "meeting postpone kar do", "deadline kal hai". The tool writes the Hindi parts in Devanagari and the English words in English, as they were spoken, instead of forcing the whole sentence into one script. Roman Hindi output, Hindi in Latin letters, is not offered.
Hindi or Urdu?
Spoken Hindi and Urdu share most everyday words, and the same recording could be written either way. The spoken language setting decides the script: Hindi gives Devanagari, Urdu gives Urdu script. Choose the one the people who will read the transcript can read.
Bhojpuri, Haryanvi and other regional speech
Bhojpuri, Haryanvi, Awadhi and Rajasthani are not separate entries in the language list. Recordings in them are written in Devanagari with Hindi chosen, but unfamiliar words may be marked [inaudible] or written as the nearest Hindi word, so check the free first part before you pay. Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu have their own entries.
A real Hindi example on this page
The demo on this page is a real output, not a mock-up: a short contract-law lecture in English with a passage in Hindi, transcribed in Devanagari with the English translation underneath, exactly as the tool returned it.
Long Hindi recordings people bring
- University lectures and coaching classes of two to three hours

How the tool works, what it costs and how your files are handled is on the Long Audio & Video to Text page; prices for every tool are on the pricing page.

Questions and answers
Can I get only the Hindi, without the English translation?
Yes. Set "Also translate" to none before you upload. The transcript is then Hindi in Devanagari, with English words kept where they were spoken.
Can it write Hindi in Roman letters?
No. Hindi is written in Devanagari. The English translation is there for readers who do not read Devanagari.
What does a 4-hour Hindi lecture cost?
One payment of $5, for any recording up to 6 hours. Unlimited, $19 a week, covers recordings of up to 12 hours and every other tool; cancel any time.
Which files can I upload?
Audio and video files such as MP3, M4A, WAV, OPUS, MP4 and MOV, up to 2 GB. A lecture recorded in several parts can go into one job; the parts are put in name order.
