Transcribe long Burmese (Myanmar) recordings to text
Upload a Burmese audio or video file of up to 6 hours and get the transcript in Myanmar script, with a timestamp at every paragraph and an English translation under each one. Up to 15 minutes is free in full; for a longer file the first part is free and the whole recording is $5, paid once.
- Burmese written in Myanmar script, as standard Unicode text
- Leave the spoken language on Auto-detect: Burmese is not in the language list
- English translation under every paragraph, chosen in advance
- Translation into Burmese is not offered
- Up to 6 hours per recording for $5
Real output from a demo recording. Click a timestamp to see where it sits in the audio.
Unicode, not Zawgyi
The transcript is standard Unicode Myanmar text. On a phone or computer that still uses a Zawgyi font it can look scrambled; current systems show it correctly, and the PDF download prints it with a Unicode Myanmar font, so the PDF reads correctly anywhere.
Auto-detect, and what that means
Burmese is not one of the languages you can choose under "Spoken language", so the tool works out the language from the recording itself. That is why this page leaves the setting on Auto-detect. It also means there is no Burmese hint to guide a recording that starts with music or another language, so cut such an introduction if you can.
Shan, Karen, Kachin, Chin and Rakhine are not in the language list either. A recording that switches into them may have those passages marked [inaudible] or written inaccurately.
Honest limits for Burmese
Burmese speech recognition is less established than for the largest languages, so check the free first part of your own recording before paying. English is the usual translation; Burmese is not offered as a translation target, so you cannot use this tool to put an English recording into Burmese.
Long Burmese recordings people bring
- Dhamma talks and religious teaching
- Interviews for research, journalism or human rights documentation
- Family recordings for relatives abroad who read English
- Meetings and trainings that need a written record
How the tool works, what it costs and how your files are handled is on the Long Audio & Video to Text page; prices for every tool are on the pricing page.

Questions and answers
Why is Burmese not in the language list?
The list covers the languages you can choose as a hint or as a translation target. Burmese is recognized from the recording on Auto-detect instead, and it is not available as a translation target.
Will the text work on my phone?
It is Unicode Myanmar text, which current phones display correctly. Older devices set up for Zawgyi may show it scrambled; the PDF download always reads correctly.
What does a long talk cost?
$5, paid once, for a recording of up to 6 hours. A recording of up to 15 minutes is free in full, downloads included.
Is there a Burmese sample?
Not yet. The first part of your own file is transcribed for free, without an account, which is the best way to judge it.
