WhatsApp Chat to PDF

WhatsApp chat to PDF, with every voice message transcribed

Upload the file WhatsApp creates when you export a chat and get one PDF: every message in order with its date and time, every voice message written out where it was sent, photos in place, and, if you want, a translation under each message. The first messages are free, with no sign-up. The whole chat costs $5: one payment, no subscription. A chatbot cannot listen to hundreds of voice notes or keep a long chat in order; this tool processes the export message by message.

WhatsApp is a trademark of WhatsApp LLC. NoCutoff is an independent tool and is not affiliated with WhatsApp or Meta. The chat above is a demo; the PDF excerpt is real output from that demo chat.

What you get back

One PDF of the whole conversation, laid out to be read, printed or handed to someone else. A cover page says who took part, the period it covers and which export file it was made from. Then come the messages, in order, grouped by day.

  • Each message with its number, sender, date and time exactly as they appear in the export. Dates are not reinterpreted, so a 03/12 never silently becomes 12/03.
  • Voice messages and round video messages written out word for word in a box at the point they were sent, with their length, file name and detected language.
  • If you choose a translation, it appears under the original text and under each transcript. The original always comes first.
  • Photos and stickers shown in the flow of the chat; videos shown as a still frame with their length; documents and contact cards listed by name.
  • An index of every voice message at the end, with date, sender, file name and length.
  • The same content as plain text (TXT) and as a spreadsheet (CSV) with one row per message.
Left: a raw WhatsApp export line reading "<attached: 00000004-AUDIO….opus>". Right: the same moment in the PDF, with sender, time and a voice message box containing the transcript.
The same voice message in your export (left) and in your PDF (right).

Doing it in a chatbot, and with this tool

ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini can read a short chat you paste in. The trouble starts with what makes a WhatsApp export useful as a record: the voice messages, the length, and the need for a document that keeps every message in its place.

What you need A chatbot This tool
Hundreds of voice notes written out Cannot listen to the audio files inside the export Transcribes every voice message, up to 10,000 messages per chat
A long chat, start to finish Tends to summarise, skip or stop partway through Processes the chat in blocks and keeps every message in order
Voice notes in Hindi, Urdu, Arabic, Spanish or a mix Not possible without the audio Written in the language spoken, with an optional translation underneath
Exact senders, dates and times May rephrase or reorder them Copied exactly as in the export, never reinterpreted
A document to share or print Text in a chat window One PDF with a cover page, photos and a voice-message index
Proof of which export it came from None SHA-256 fingerprint of your export file on the cover

How to turn a WhatsApp chat into a PDF

  1. 1

    Export the chat from WhatsApp

Open the chat, tap the name at the top (iPhone) or the ⋮ menu (Android), choose Export chat, then Attach media / Include media so the voice messages come with it. Save the .zip file it creates.

  2. 2

Upload it and choose a translation if you need one

Drop the .zip here. If you want every message translated, pick the language. No account is needed.

  3. 3

    Check the first messages free

The first part of the chat appears in a few seconds with its voice messages written out. Read it before you pay.

  4. 4

Unlock the whole chat and download

Unlock the chat for $5 and download the PDF, the text file or the spreadsheet.

Why chat assistants cannot do this one

A WhatsApp export is a text file plus a folder of attachments. The text says "voice message attached" at the moment a note was sent; the words are inside an audio file. A chat assistant reading the text sees only the file names. Even when an assistant can take audio, a real chat has dozens or hundreds of notes, and a reply in a chat window has a practical size limit, so a long conversation gets summarised or cut off.

This tool takes the export apart the way it is built. It reads the chat line by line, matches every attachment to the message it belongs to, and sends each voice message to a speech model on its own. Message 2,000 gets the same treatment as message 20.

What people use it for

  • Giving a lawyer, mediator or HR team a readable record of a conversation, voice notes included
  • Keeping the voice messages of a parent or friend who has died as text you can reread
  • Understanding voice notes from family, landlords or colleagues in another language
  • Keeping a record of what was agreed with a client, builder or business by voice
  • Searching a long conversation for a date, an amount or a promise

Accuracy, evidence and what this is not

Voice messages are transcribed by an AI speech model, word for word, in the language spoken. It is accurate on clear speech, but background noise, several people talking at once and heavy slang can produce mistakes; unclear words are marked [inaudible]. Translations are machine translations. For anything that matters, check the passage against the original audio, which stays on your phone and in your export.

The PDF is a readable record, not a certified transcript or a certified translation, and it does not prove on its own that a conversation took place. Courts and agencies set their own rules for chat evidence and may ask for the original phone, the original export file or a certified translation. The SHA-256 fingerprint on the cover lets anyone confirm which export file the PDF was made from; keep that file unchanged.

Getting a complete export

Choose Attach media or Include media when you export; without it WhatsApp leaves the voice messages out and the PDF can only say "media omitted". On iPhone the export is one .zip file. On Android it may be a .zip or a .txt with separate files: you can upload the .txt together with its voice notes and photos.

Uploads can be up to 2 GB in total. Very long videos make an export large; if yours is bigger, export again without them in a separate step, or write to us. WhatsApp itself limits how many recent messages an export with media contains, so very old messages may need a second export.

Questions and answers

How do I convert a WhatsApp chat to PDF with the voice messages?

Export the chat from WhatsApp with Attach media (Include media) switched on, upload the .zip here, and download the PDF. Every voice message is written out where it was sent. The first messages are free; the whole chat is $5, paid once.

Why not just give the ZIP to ChatGPT and ask for a PDF?

Three reasons. A chat assistant reading the export sees only the names of the audio files, so the voice messages stay unheard. A long chat is too big for one reply, so it ends up summarised or cut off. And a language model writes text anew: a message it has tidied or reworded is no longer a faithful record. This tool copies every text message exactly as exported, transcribes each voice message separately, and keeps the whole conversation in order.

Can it translate the chat and the voice messages into English?

Yes, in the same pass. Choose a language when you upload and every text message and every voice-message transcript gets a translation printed underneath it. The original always comes first, so both stay on the record.

Which languages can the voice messages be in?

Voice messages are written in the language spoken, including English, Spanish, Portuguese, Hindi, Urdu, Arabic, Persian, Bengali, Indonesian, Turkish, German, French and many more, and mixed speech such as Hindi with English. You can also have every message translated into one of 38 languages.

Is the PDF accepted as evidence in court?

That is for the court or agency to decide. The PDF is a readable record with exact senders, dates and times and a SHA-256 fingerprint of the export file, but it is not a certified transcript or translation. Ask your lawyer what they need; many ask for the original export or phone as well.

How much does it cost?

The first messages are free without an account. The whole chat is $5, paid once, for up to 10,000 messages, with PDF, TXT and CSV downloads. Unlimited costs $29 a month or $180 a year and covers every tool on the site.

Does a chat with many voice messages cost more?

No. The price is $5 per chat, whether it has three voice messages or three hundred, and translation is included. The only limit is the length of the chat: up to 10,000 messages for one payment.

Do I pay again to download it again?

No. An unlocked chat stays unlocked in your account. Open it again at any time and download the PDF, TXT or CSV as often as you need.

Does it work with iPhone and Android exports?

Yes. It reads both, in any phone language and date format. Upload the .zip, or on Android the .txt together with its voice notes and photos.

Are photos and videos included?

Photos and stickers appear in the PDF where they were sent. Videos are shown as a still frame with their length; round video messages are also transcribed. Documents and contact cards are listed by name.

Is my chat private?

Only you can open your chat. The .zip you upload is deleted as soon as it has been unpacked. Voice messages and text are sent to an AI model provider only to transcribe and translate them, through routes that do not use your data for training. Chats uploaded without an account are deleted after 7 days, and you can delete a chat and all its files yourself at any time.

What if my chat is very long?

One payment covers up to 10,000 messages. Unlimited covers chats up to 30,000 messages. Uploads can be up to 2 GB; if your export is larger because of videos, export it again without them or write to us.
