Interviews for a TCC, dissertation or thesis

An entrevista for a TCC has to be transcribed in full before you can analyze it. Upload the recording and you get every word with a timestamp at the start of each paragraph, so a quote in your text can point back to the exact minute. The result is a raw transcript to edit, not a formatted appendix: fix names, mark the interviewer and the respondent on screen, then download Word.

The tool is instructed to write what was said, word for word, without correcting grammar. That keeps informal speech such as "pra", "tá" and "a gente" in the transcript, which is usually what qualitative research needs.

Brazil, Portugal and Africa

There is one spoken language setting, Portuguese, for every variety. A Lisbon recording keeps "tu" and European vocabulary, a recording from São Paulo keeps "você" and Brazilian vocabulary; neither is rewritten into the other. Galician is not in the language list.

Long Portuguese recordings people bring

  • Research interviews and focus groups for a TCC, mestrado or doutorado
  • Classes, lives and webinars saved as video
  • Meetings and hearings that need a written record
  • Podcasts and sermons of an hour or more

How the tool works, what it costs and how your files are handled is on the Long Audio & Video to Text page; prices for every tool are on the pricing page.

Questions and answers

Does it work for Brazilian and European Portuguese?

Yes. Both are written as spoken, with no conversion of vocabulary or spelling from one variety to the other.

Can I translate a Portuguese interview into English or Spanish?

Yes. Choose the language under "Also translate" and the translation appears under each paragraph, after the Portuguese.

How much is one long interview?

$5 for the whole recording, up to 6 hours. Up to 15 minutes is free in full. Unlimited, $19 a week, covers many interviews in one week; cancel any time.

Does it separate interviewer and respondent?

Speaker changes start a new paragraph with "Speaker 1:", "Speaker 2:" when they are clear. Rename them on screen; names appear automatically only when they are said in the recording.
