Sermon transcription
Transcribe a sermon, khutbah or bayan in the language it was preached
Upload a recorded sermon, homily, khutbah, bayan or dharma talk and get every word in the language preached, with a timestamp on each paragraph and, if you choose, a translation into English or another language under every paragraph. An outline is written from the transcript: the theme, the scripture cited as the speaker said it, the main points with their times and the applications given. A talk of up to 15 minutes is free in full; a longer one costs $5, paid once, for up to 6 hours. Nothing is shortened: the recording is transcribed in parts and joined back in order.
- Talks up to 6 hours for one payment (12 hours on Unlimited), audio or video files up to 2 GB
- Written in the language and script preached, such as Amharic, Tigrinya, Arabic, Urdu, Yoruba or Spanish
- Optional translation under every paragraph, original first, into one of 77 languages
- Scripture and texts listed only as the speaker cites them; no reference is added
- An outline of the main points in order, with the time each one starts
- Applications, calls to action or prayer points, and memorable lines word for word
- Up to 15 minutes free in full, first part of longer talks free · whole talk $5, one payment
What you get back
The complete transcript of the talk, with an outline written from it on top. Both can be corrected on screen before you download.
- Every word written out in the language and script it was spoken in, never summarized. Where the speaker moves between languages, each part stays in its own language.
- A timestamp such as [38:20] at the start of every paragraph, counted from the start of the recording. A change of speaker, such as a reader or an interpreter, is marked when it is clear.
- If you choose a translation, it appears under each paragraph, with the original always first.
- The title or theme as the speaker states it, and a summary of the message in one or two paragraphs.
- Scripture and sacred texts quoted or referred to, written as the reference is said, for example a book, chapter and verse, a surah and ayah, or a hadith.
- The main points in order, each with one sentence and its time, then the applications, calls to action or prayer points given, and memorable lines word for word.
- Word, PDF and TXT downloads (outline first, then the full transcript), and SRT and VTT captions for the video of the service.
A chatbot, and this tool, on a recorded sermon
A chat assistant that accepts audio can handle a short, clear clip. A whole sermon or khutbah, often in a language other than English, is a longer and more careful job.
| What you need | A chatbot | This tool |
|---|---|---|
| A short clip of clear preaching | Usually transcribes it well | Also fine, and free in full up to 15 minutes |
| A full service or a long talk | Length limits; the text gets shortened or stops partway | Up to 6 hours per job, every minute written out |
| Preaching in Amharic, Tigrinya or Yoruba | Tends to translate or tidy instead of writing what was said | Written in the language preached; translation only if you ask, under the original |
| The verses the speaker cites | Can fill in a reference from general knowledge | Listed only as said; a reference that was not spoken is never added |
| A translation for the congregation | A condensed version in one block | Paragraph by paragraph, each under its original |
| A text to share or print | Text in a chat window | Word, PDF, TXT, SRT and VTT |

Why long sermons come back shortened from a chat window
A sermon of forty-five minutes, or a Friday khutbah together with the talk some mosques give before it, holds thousands of words. Chat assistants that accept audio cap how long the file can be, free plans often cannot take audio at all, and a long transcript does not fit in one reply, so it is summarized or ends partway. For preaching in Amharic, Tigrinya, Urdu or Yoruba there is a second risk: the assistant answers in English, and you get its version of the message rather than the words spoken.
This tool cuts the recording into parts of up to ten minutes and transcribes each part completely, in the language preached, with the same instructions. Timestamps are shifted by where each part starts and the parts are joined in order. A translation, if you choose one, is made paragraph by paragraph and placed under the original, so a reader can always see what was actually said.
Who uses it
- Churches publishing the text of Sunday sermons or homilies on their website
- Mosques sharing a Friday khutbah in English for members who do not follow the Arabic or Urdu
- Diaspora congregations preaching in Amharic, Tigrinya or Yoruba, with English for younger members
- Students keeping a written record of a teacher's bayan or dharma talks
- Caption files for the video of a service, for members who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Archives of older recorded sermons that never had a written version
Respecting the words: what the AI does not do
- It adds no interpretation, theology or commentary of its own; the outline only arranges what the speaker said
- It uses the tradition's own terms the way the speaker does
- It lists a scripture reference only if the speaker says it, and never adds one from memory
- A verse quoted in the talk is translated from the words spoken, not looked up in a published edition, so check it against the edition you use
- It keeps quoted lines word for word, in the language they were spoken
Accuracy and better recordings
The transcript is made by an AI speech model. It does well on clear speech. A feed from the sound desk works better than a phone at the back of the hall; echo, music under the preaching, and the congregation responding all cause mistakes, and unclear words are marked [inaudible]. Recitation and sung passages may come out less accurately than speech, so check them against the text.
The outline is written by AI from the transcript only. Read it before you publish, and check names, places and references. The translation is a draft made by AI, not an authorized translation, and the transcript is not a certified record.

Questions and answers
How do I transcribe a sermon recording?
Upload the audio or video file, or a public Drive or Dropbox link, choose the language preached and an optional translation, and read the free first part. The whole sermon is $5, up to 6 hours, with an outline and Word, PDF and TXT downloads.
Can ChatGPT transcribe and translate a full sermon?
A short clip, often yes. A full sermon usually goes past the audio length limit, and a long transcript with its translation does not fit in one reply, so it gets shortened. This tool transcribes every minute in the language preached and puts the translation under each paragraph.
Can it translate an Amharic, Arabic or Urdu sermon into English?
Yes. Pick English as the translation language and each paragraph is shown in the language preached with the English under it. The outline is then written in English too. Tigrinya, Yoruba, Somali, Swahili, Spanish and many other languages work the same way.
Does it list the Bible verses or Quran references?
It lists the scripture and texts the speaker quotes or refers to, written as the reference is said, such as a chapter and verse or a surah and ayah. A reference the speaker did not say is never added, even if the quoted words are familiar.
Does the AI add its own interpretation?
No. It is instructed to use only what is said in the recording and to add no interpretation or theology. The summary and outline arrange the speaker's own points in order, so check them before sharing.
Can I use a livestream recording?
Yes, as a file. Download the recording of the service, or share it from Google Drive or Dropbox, and upload that. YouTube and Facebook links are not accepted.
Does the outline cover the whole sermon before I pay?
No. While the job is locked, the outline is written for the free part only, and the screen says so. After payment the rest is transcribed and the outline is rewritten from every minute.
How much does it cost?
A talk of up to 15 minutes is free in full. A longer one is $5, paid once, for up to 6 hours, translation included. Unlimited is $19 a week, renews weekly, cancel any time, and covers recordings up to 12 hours per job.
Is the recording private?
Only you can open your job. The audio is sent to an AI model provider only to process it and is not used to train models. Jobs started without an account are deleted after 7 days, and you can delete a job at any time.
