Convert a scanned Arabic PDF into an editable Word document

Upload a scanned Arabic book, report, contract or certificate and get every page back as editable Arabic text in a Word file: hamza forms, tā marbūṭa and diacritics as printed, tables rebuilt right to left, unsure words highlighted. The first page is free without an account; up to 300 pages is $5, paid once.

Turn a scanned PDF into Word

Choosing the script helps most with Urdu Nastaliq, Pashto, Persian, Amharic and other scripts that general OCR misreads.

No sign-up. Up to 3 pages free in full. Longer: the first page free, the whole PDF $5, one payment.

By continuing you agree to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

  • Diacritics (tashkīl) copied only where they are printed
  • Tables rebuilt as right-to-left Word tables
  • Every page read separately, with page numbers for reference

From scan to text you can work with

A scanned Arabic PDF cannot be searched, edited or translated: each page is a picture. Free OCR tools often handle a few pages well and then lose accuracy, merge columns, or drop the small marks that distinguish أ from ا and ة from ه, which matters for search and for translation.

Here every page is read on its own at high resolution, with instructions to keep hamza forms, tā marbūṭa and alif maqṣūra exactly as printed and to copy diacritics only where they appear. Tables become right-to-left Word tables, and words the reader is unsure of are highlighted.

Scan, then translate

Many people convert an Arabic scan in order to translate it. Download the Word file, then upload it to Translate Word Document and choose English or another language: tables and paragraphs are switched from right to left to left to right, and a bilingual copy shows the Arabic and the translation together.

What people convert

  • Contracts, judgments and official letters before translation
  • Arabic books and manuscripts printed in Naskh
  • University theses and articles available only as scans
  • Certificates and records for immigration files

How the tool works, what it costs and how your files are handled is on the Scanned PDF to Word page; prices for every tool are on the pricing page.
