A cour in one job

A typical anime episode has a few hundred dialogue lines, so a 12-episode cour usually lands in the thousands and a 24-episode season roughly doubles that. The job limit is 10,000 lines across all files. After upload the job shows how many lines and files it contains, before you pay. If the season goes over, the episodes that do not fit are left out complete and the summary says how many; upload them as a second job.

This page preselects Spanish. Pick any of the 81 target languages before uploading; one job has one target.

Openings, endings and karaoke

Song lyrics in an OP or ED are usually romaji with {\k} tags that time each syllable to the music. By default these lines are not translated, so the effect still matches the song in every episode. If you would rather read the meaning, choose "Translate them": the \k tags are removed and each lyric line is translated whole, keeping its start and end time. Karaoke is recognized by those tags; lines already generated by a karaoke template, one syllable each, are not, so run the template after translating, or remove those lines first.

Signs and typesetting across episodes

  • Signs with \pos, \move or \frz are translated and keep their tags
  • Drawing lines ({\p1}) and Comment lines are not sent for translation
  • A translated sign can be longer and overflow a box or a \clip mask
  • A sign layered several times is translated line by line, so check the copies match
  • Each block of up to 60 lines goes with its neighbors, keeping tone steady within an episode

Questions and answers

Can ChatGPT translate a whole anime season of ASS files?

Not reliably. Even one episode pasted into a chat tends to come back incomplete, tags in braces can change, and a season means many chats with nothing checking that every line returned.

Is the price per episode?

No. All files in the job, up to 30 and 10,000 lines, are $5 together, paid once. A job of 150 lines or fewer is free in full.

Do episode files keep their names?

Yes. Each keeps its name with the language code added, for example "[Group] Show - 07.es.ass", and the whole season downloads as one ZIP.

Can I mix .ass and .ssa files?

Yes. Each file is read in its own format and returned in it; you can also download every episode as SRT or VTT.

Will names be spelled the same in every episode?

Names are kept as in the source, written in the target script when it differs, which keeps them steady. Check a few episodes on screen and fix any spelling you want changed before you download.

What if the season is longer than the limit?

Split it into two jobs. Unlimited, at $19 a week, also raises the limit to 30,000 lines per job.
