Translate an EPUB book into Spanish, chapters and cover kept

Upload a DRM-free EPUB and get it back in Spanish as an EPUB: every chapter translated in reading order, the title and table of contents in Spanish, the cover, images and styles unchanged. Download a bilingual English and Spanish edition too. The first part is free without an account; a book of up to about 160,000 words is $5, paid once.

Whole books, not chapters

A 90,000-word novel is far longer than one chat reply. Translated piece by piece, it loses consistency and you still have to put the text back into an EPUB yourself. This tool opens the EPUB, translates every paragraph of every chapter in order, and writes the Spanish text back into the same files. Chapter breaks, italics, scene breaks and footnote links stay where they were.

The book's language is set to Spanish inside the EPUB, so e-readers offer the Spanish dictionary and hyphenation. The cover image is copied as it is; if the title is printed on the cover picture, it stays in the original language.

For authors, teachers and learners

Self-published authors use it to prepare a Spanish edition for review by an editor. Teachers and learners use the bilingual EPUB, where each paragraph is followed by its Spanish translation in a slightly lighter color, to read a book in both languages at once.

Set the tone before you start: formal for older or literary texts, informal for contemporary dialogue, or "Like the original" to let the text decide. Character names, place names and invented words go in the glossary or the "Never translate" list.

Books people translate into Spanish

  • Self-published novels and memoirs
  • Public-domain classics for a new edition
  • Graded readers and books for language classes
  • Non-fiction and manuals published as EPUB

How the tool works, what it costs and how your files are handled is on the Translate EPUB Book page; prices for every tool are on the pricing page.

Questions and answers

Latin American or Castilian Spanish?

Neutral Spanish by default. Add regional words to the glossary if your readers expect them, for example "car = carro" or "car = coche".

Will the cover be translated?

The cover is an image and stays as it is. The book title in the EPUB's information and table of contents is translated.

What does a full novel cost?

$5, paid once, for up to about 160,000 words, with both the Spanish and the bilingual EPUB.

Can I edit before downloading?

Yes. Every paragraph is shown next to the original, chapter by chapter, and edits go into both downloads.
