Word document translator
Translate a whole Word document and get the same .docx back
Upload a .docx, choose a language, and get the same Word file back with every paragraph translated: headings, tables, footnotes, headers and footers, numbered lists and images stay where they were. Persian, Arabic, Urdu and Hebrew come back right to left, tables included. The first part is free with no sign-up; the whole document, up to about 300 pages, is $5 as one payment, with no subscription. A chatbot handles a page or two well, but a long document tends to come back summarized, cut short or as plain text without the formatting.
- Up to 40 paragraphs free in full; on longer files the first part is free, no account
- Whole document $5, one payment: up to about 300 pages (1,000,000 characters)
- Same .docx back: headings, tables, footnotes, headers, lists, images and links kept
- Right-to-left tables and paragraphs set for Persian, Arabic, Urdu and Hebrew
- A bilingual Word file too: each translated paragraph under the original
- 81 languages, formal or informal tone, glossary and names to keep
What you get back
You get the file you uploaded, translated: thesis.docx comes back as thesis.fa.docx, with the same page setup, styles and layout. Before you download, every paragraph is shown on screen next to its original, and you can edit any translation; the download uses your edits.
- The translated .docx: body text, headings, table cells, text boxes, headers, footers, footnotes and endnotes translated in place; images, charts, page breaks, section settings and numbering untouched.
- Bold, italic, underlined and linked words stay formatted: each formatted run is carried through the translation as a marker, and the words around it are reordered when the target language needs it.
- A bilingual .docx: every translated paragraph placed directly under its original, for checking, teaching or a side-by-side review with a lawyer or supervisor.
- A warnings list (CSV) of any paragraph that could not be translated cleanly; that paragraph keeps its original text, so the document is never broken.
Translating a Word file with a chatbot, and with this tool
Chat assistants translate a few pages of pasted text well. The trouble starts with length and with the file itself: a 150-page thesis has to come back in one reply, and the tables, footnotes and styles live in the .docx, not in the text you paste.
| Your situation | A chatbot | This tool |
|---|---|---|
| Two pages of plain text | Usually translates them well | Translates them and returns the Word file |
| A 150-page thesis | Tends to stop partway, summarize, or ask you to continue chapter by chapter | Translates every paragraph in blocks, up to about 300 pages in one job |
| Tables, footnotes, headers | Gives back plain text; you rebuild the layout by hand | Translates them inside the same .docx; layout and styles stay as they were |
| Persian or Arabic tables | Even in a Word file, columns often stay in left-to-right order | Sets each table and paragraph right to left, with the columns starting from the right |
| Terms used 300 times | Can drift between chapters in a long conversation | Sends your glossary and the paragraphs before each block with every request |
| Checking the result | One long reply to compare by eye | Each paragraph next to its original on screen, plus a bilingual Word file |

Why long Word files trip up general AI assistants
A chat assistant answers in one reply, and a reply has a length limit. A 100-page document is far longer than that, so the assistant either summarizes, stops partway, or asks you to send it piece by piece. Splitting it yourself works, but you lose consistency between pieces and spend an afternoon pasting.
The second problem is the file. Headings, tables, footnotes, numbered lists and page layout are stored in the .docx itself. When an assistant gives back text, all of that has to be rebuilt by hand, and in right-to-left languages the tables are usually the first thing to go wrong: Word keeps the columns in left-to-right order unless each table is marked as right to left.
This tool never asks a model to rewrite your file. It reads the document paragraph by paragraph, sends only the text in blocks of up to 60 paragraphs, with the paragraph type (heading, table cell, footnote) as context and the two paragraphs before each block for continuity, and requires an answer for every paragraph. Formatting inside a paragraph travels as short markers that must come back complete. The Word file is then rebuilt from your original, so everything that was not text stays exactly as it was.
What people translate
- Theses and dissertations, for example a Persian or Arabic thesis into English for a supervisor or an application
- Contracts, leases and agreements, Arabic to English or English to Arabic, with clause numbering kept
- User manuals, policies and handbooks with numbered steps, tables and images
- Reports and grant proposals with charts, captions and footnotes
- Course material and books in progress kept in Word
Right-to-left languages done properly
When the target is Persian, Arabic, Urdu, Hebrew or another right-to-left language, every translated paragraph is set right to left, each table that holds translated text gets its column order reversed (so the first column starts at the right), and the page sections are set right to left. Word draws right-to-left text with its complex-script settings, so bold, italic and font size are copied to those settings too, in the text and in the document styles; otherwise headings lose their size and weight.
The reverse works as well: a Persian or Arabic document translated into English or French comes back left to right, without leftover right-to-left marks.
Limits, and getting a good result
Text inside charts, SmartArt and images is not translated, and comments are left as they are. A table of contents is translated as text; in Word, right-click it and choose Update Field to refresh page numbers after translation. Old .doc files need to be saved as .docx first, and scanned pages inside a Word file are images, so their text is not read.
One payment covers up to 10 files and about 300 pages (1,000,000 characters) in total; Unlimited covers about 600 pages per job. Use the glossary for terms that must be translated one way, list names under "Never translate", and check the first part before you unlock. The result is machine translation with structural checks: for legal filings or publication, have a qualified translator review it.

Questions and answers
Can ChatGPT translate a whole Word document?
A short one, often yes. A long .docx usually comes back summarized, cut short or as text without the layout, and right-to-left tables tend to stay in the wrong order. This tool translates every paragraph and returns the same Word file with formatting kept.
Will my tables, footnotes and headings stay?
Yes. Table cells, footnotes, endnotes, headers, footers and headings are translated in place, and styles, numbering, images and page setup are copied from your file. Bold, italic and links inside a sentence stay on the right words.
Does it fix right-to-left tables in Persian, Arabic or Urdu?
Yes. Translated paragraphs are set right to left and each table with translated text gets right-to-left column order, so the first column starts at the right. Section settings and complex-script formatting are set too.
How long can the document be?
One payment of $5 covers up to about 300 pages (1,000,000 characters) in up to 10 .docx files of up to 50 MB each. Unlimited covers about 600 pages per job.
Can I get the original and the translation together?
Yes. Besides the translated file you can download a bilingual .docx in which each translated paragraph sits directly under its original.
Which languages are supported?
81 languages, including Persian, Arabic, Urdu, Hebrew, English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Russian, Ukrainian, Turkish, Hindi, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
Is it free?
The first part of every document is translated free and shown on screen, with no account. A document of up to 40 paragraphs is free in full, downloads included. The whole of a longer document is $5, paid once.
Are my files private?
Only you can open your job. The text is sent to an AI model provider only to translate it and is not used for training. Jobs uploaded without an account are deleted after 7 days, and you can delete a job yourself at any time.
