Lecture recording to notes
Turn a lecture recording into notes you can revise from
Upload a lecture, class, seminar or training recording, or paste a Google Drive or Dropbox link, and get the whole transcript with timestamps, then notes written from that transcript: summary, chapters, key points, key terms, assignments and exam hints, and study cards you can import into Anki or Quizlet. A recording of up to 15 minutes is free in full. A longer lecture is $5, paid once, for up to 6 hours. A chatbot tends to summarize a long lecture and skip the details; here every minute is written out first and the notes point back into it.
- Lectures up to 6 hours for one payment (12 hours on Unlimited), files up to 2 GB
- The full transcript, word for word, with a timestamp on every paragraph
- Chapters with timestamps and a one-line summary each, so you can find a topic in the audio
- Key points, key terms with the definitions given in the lecture, assignments and exam hints
- Study cards as a CSV that Anki and Quizlet can import
- Notes in the language of the lecture, or in your translation language
- Up to 15 minutes free in full, first part of longer lectures free · whole lecture $5, one payment
What you get back
Two things in one job: the complete record of what was said, and notes written only from that record.
- A title and a summary of the whole lecture.
- Chapters in order, each with its timestamp from the transcript and a one-line summary.
- Key points to remember, kept concrete: the lecturer's examples, numbers and definitions.
- Key terms, names and formulas, with the definition given in the lecture.
- Assignments, readings, deadlines and exam hints the lecturer mentions, when there are any.
- Study cards: question and answer pairs taken from the lecture.
- Below the notes, the full transcript with a timestamp at the start of every paragraph and an optional translation under each one.
Doing it in a chatbot, and with this tool
A chat assistant is good at turning a short transcript into notes. The hard part with a long lecture is getting every minute written down first.
| What you need | A chatbot | This tool |
|---|---|---|
| Notes from a short transcript you already have | Usually does this well | Not needed for that; this tool starts from the recording |
| A two-hour lecture recording | Upload limits, or a summary instead of the content | Up to 6 hours per job, transcribed in full |
| The examples and definitions you are tested on | Tends to condense them away | All in the transcript, with key terms listed in the notes |
| Finding where a topic was explained | No reliable timestamps | Chapters and paragraphs carry times from the recording |
| Flashcards for revision | Cards to copy out of the chat by hand | A study card CSV for Anki or Quizlet |
| Files to keep | Text in a chat window | Word, PDF, TXT, CSV, SRT and VTT |
How to turn a lecture recording into notes
-
1
Upload the lecture
Drop the audio or video file, up to 2 GB, or paste a public Google Drive, Dropbox or direct file link. A lecture saved in several files can go in one job; files are put in name order.
-
2
Read the first part free
The first part is transcribed on screen with notes for that part, and the screen says the notes cover only that part. Check them against the audio.
-
3
Unlock and download
Pay $5 for the whole lecture. The notes are written again from every minute, then download Word, PDF or TXT, the study card CSV, or SRT and VTT.
Why a long lecture trips up a chat assistant
Chat assistants that accept audio limit how long a file can be, and a lecture of an hour or more holds far more words than fit in one reply. Asked for notes, an assistant tends to work from whatever part it could take in, and the result reads well while the examples, numbers and side remarks you are tested on go missing.
This tool does it in two steps. First the recording is cut into parts of up to ten minutes, each part is written out in full by an AI speech model, and the parts are joined in order with timestamps from the start of the file. Then the notes are written from the finished transcript, so they can cover the end of the lecture as well as the beginning.
How the notes stay tied to the lecture
The notes use only what is said in the transcript. Names, numbers, dates and definitions are not added from outside the recording, and if the lecturer gave no assignments, that part of the notes is left empty. Timestamps in the chapters are copied from the transcript, so you can open the audio at that moment and hear the explanation again.
While the job is locked, the notes are written for the free part only, and the screen says so. After payment the rest of the lecture is transcribed and the notes are rewritten from every minute. If you choose a translation language, the notes are written in that language; otherwise in the language of the lecture.
What students and trainers use it for
- Recorded university lectures and seminars, for revision before an exam
- Online course videos and webinars you want as searchable notes
- Medical, law and engineering classes where definitions matter word for word
- Training sessions and workshops for people who missed them
- Lectures in Arabic, Hindi, Spanish or another language, with notes in English through the translation option
Accuracy and limits
The transcript is made by an AI speech model and the notes are written by AI from it, so check both before you rely on them. Clear speech from a lapel or podium microphone comes out well; a phone at the back of a hall, students talking and echoing rooms cause mistakes, and unclear words are marked [inaudible]. Formulas and technical terms spoken aloud are worth checking against your slides.
Questions from the audience are written out when they can be heard. Speaker changes are marked when clear, and on a long recording the same person can get a different number in a later part; use Find and replace on screen before downloading.

Questions and answers
How do I turn a lecture recording into notes?
Upload the recording here, read the free first part and its notes, then unlock the whole lecture for $5. You get the full timestamped transcript and notes written from every minute, as Word, PDF or TXT, plus study cards as a CSV.
Can ChatGPT make notes from a two-hour lecture recording?
Not reliably from the recording itself. Chat assistants limit how long an audio file can be, and a long lecture does not fit in one reply, so notes tend to come from part of it. If you already have a short transcript, an assistant is fine for notes; this tool first writes out every minute, then makes notes from all of it.
Do the notes include anything that was not said?
They are written only from the transcript. Timestamps are copied from it, and nothing from outside the recording is added on purpose, but the notes are written by AI, so check them against the transcript before you study from them.
How do I get the study cards into Anki or Quizlet?
Download the study card CSV. It has two columns, front and back, with no header row, which Anki and Quizlet can import as question and answer pairs.
Why do the notes cover only the first part?
Before payment, notes are written for the free part only, and the screen says how far they go. After you unlock the lecture, the rest is transcribed and the notes are rewritten from the whole recording.
Can I get English notes from a lecture in another language?
Yes. Choose English as the translation language: the transcript stays in the language spoken with English under each paragraph, and the notes are written in English.
How much does it cost?
A recording of up to 15 minutes is free in full. A longer lecture is $5, paid once, for up to 6 hours. Unlimited costs $19 a week (it renews weekly, cancel any time) and covers recordings up to 12 hours per job.
Is my recording private?
Only you can open your job. The audio is sent to an AI model provider only to be processed and is not used to train models. Jobs started without an account are deleted after 7 days, and you can delete a job yourself at any time.
