Podcast transcript & show notes
Turn a podcast episode into a full transcript, show notes and chapters
Upload an episode, as audio or video, and get every word with a speaker label and a timestamp at the start of each paragraph. Show notes are then written from that transcript: title ideas, an episode description, chapter markers starting at 0:00, takeaways, quotes and the people and books mentioned. An episode of up to 15 minutes is free in full; a longer one costs $5, paid once, for up to 6 hours. A chatbot cannot take in a long episode in one go and has no real timing to work from, so the chapter times it writes are guesses; here each chapter time is copied from the transcript.
- Episodes up to 6 hours for one payment (12 hours on Unlimited), files up to 2 GB
- A speaker label on every paragraph, which you can rename to the host and guest with Find and replace
- Chapter markers from 0:00, each time taken from the transcript, not estimated
- A chapter list file ready to paste into a YouTube description or your podcast host
- Episode description, three title ideas, key takeaways, quotes and resources mentioned
- Word, PDF and TXT with the show notes first, plus SRT and VTT captions
- Up to 15 minutes free in full, first part of longer episodes free · whole episode $5, one payment
What you get back
Two things in one job: the complete transcript of the episode, and show notes written from it. You can edit both on screen before you download.
- The whole episode written out word for word in the language spoken, never summarized.
- Every paragraph starts with a timestamp such as [42:10] and a speaker: "Speaker 1:", "Speaker 2:", or a name when the person is named in the recording.
- Three plain episode title ideas based on what is actually discussed, no clickbait.
- An episode description in two short paragraphs, written for listeners deciding whether to press play.
- Chapter markers in order, one for each change of topic, the first always at 0:00.
- Key takeaways, short word-for-word quotes with speaker and time, and the people, books, products and websites mentioned by name.
- A chapter list file of "0:00 Intro" style lines, Word, PDF and TXT (show notes first, then the transcript), and SRT and VTT captions.
Show notes from a chatbot, and from this tool
For a trailer or a short clip, a chat assistant that accepts audio can do a decent job. A full episode needs every minute heard and written down, and chapter times that match the audio.
| What you need | A chatbot | This tool |
|---|---|---|
| A short trailer or teaser clip | Usually fine, if your plan accepts audio uploads | Also fine, and free in full up to 15 minutes |
| A full episode of an hour or more | Audio length limits, or a transcript that stops partway | Up to 6 hours per job, every minute written out |
| Chapter markers | No reliable timestamps on a long file, so times are guesses | Each chapter time copied from a transcript timestamp, first line 0:00 |
| Who said what | Speaker turns get lost when a long transcript is shortened | A speaker label at the start of every paragraph |
| Quotes for social posts | Can come back reworded when the text is condensed | Word for word from the transcript, with speaker and time |
| Files to publish | Text in a chat window | Chapter list, Word, PDF, TXT, SRT and VTT |
How to make show notes and chapters from an episode
-
1
Upload the episode
Drop the final mixed audio or video file (MP3, M4A, WAV, MP4, MOV and more, up to 2 GB), or paste a public Google Drive, Dropbox or direct file link. Pick the spoken language if you know it.
-
2
Check the first part free
The opening minutes appear with speakers and timestamps, plus show notes for that part. Rename "Speaker 1" and "Speaker 2" to the host and guest with Find and replace.
-
3
Unlock and download
Pay $5 once. The show notes are rewritten from the whole episode; download the chapter list, the Word, PDF or TXT file, and the captions.
Why a full episode trips up a chat assistant
Chat assistants that accept audio limit how long a file can be, and free plans often cannot upload audio at all. Even when the file goes in, a ninety-minute conversation holds far more words than fit in one reply, so the transcript is shortened, summarized or stops partway. Show notes written from that are notes about part of the episode.
Chapters are the other problem. A chapter marker is only useful if the time matches the audio, and an assistant has no reliable timestamps for a long file to copy from. This tool cuts the episode into parts of up to ten minutes, transcribes each part in full, shifts every timestamp by where its part starts and joins the parts in order. The show notes are then written from that finished transcript, and every chapter time is taken from the paragraph where the new topic begins.
What podcasters use it for
- The episode page: description, chapters and links to what was mentioned
- YouTube chapters for a video podcast, pasted straight into the description
- SRT or VTT captions for the video version of the show
- Word-for-word quotes for social posts and audiograms
- A full transcript on the episode page for listeners who prefer to read
- Older episodes that never had show notes, one episode per job
- Finding the moment a topic came up when you edit a clip
Tips and honest limits
Upload the final mix, not separate microphone tracks. If you add several files to one job, they are treated as parts of one recording in name order, one after the other, not mixed together.
Speaker numbers are given per ten-minute part, so on a long episode the guest can be "Speaker 2" in one part and "Speaker 1" in a later one. Skim the labels and fix them with Find and replace before you download; the show notes and the files use your edited text.
The show notes are written by AI from the transcript and nothing else. Nothing from outside the recording is added: a sponsor link or a guest website appears only if it was said on air, and you add the URL yourself. Read the notes before you publish, and check the spelling of guest names, brands and book titles, which the speech model writes as it hears them.
Caption files follow the transcript paragraphs; the timing inside a long paragraph is spread across it, so fine-tune in a subtitle editor if you need exact timing. Crosstalk, music beds and remote guests on a poor connection cause more mistakes, and unclear words are marked [inaudible].

Questions and answers
How do I make show notes from a podcast episode?
Upload the episode file or a public Drive or Dropbox link, check the free first part, then unlock the whole episode for $5. You get the full transcript plus a description, title ideas, chapters, takeaways, quotes and mentioned resources, all written from what was said.
Can ChatGPT write show notes and chapters for a full episode?
For a short clip it can. A full episode often goes past the audio length limit, a long transcript does not fit in one reply, and without reliable timestamps the chapter times are guesses. This tool transcribes every minute first and copies each chapter time from the transcript.
How accurate are the chapter timestamps?
Each chapter time is the start of the transcript paragraph where the new topic begins, and the first chapter is always 0:00, as YouTube and podcast apps expect. If you want a chapter to start on an exact word, adjust that line in the chapter list before you paste it.
Will the host and guest be named?
Every paragraph gets a speaker label. Names are used only when they are said in the recording; otherwise you see "Speaker 1" and "Speaker 2", which you can rename on screen with Find and replace. On long episodes check the numbers, because they are assigned per ten-minute part and can swap.
Does it work with video podcasts?
Yes. Upload MP4, MOV, MKV or WEBM and the soundtrack is transcribed; you also get SRT and VTT captions. YouTube links are not accepted, so download your own file or share it from Google Drive or Dropbox.
Which languages does it handle?
The episode is written in the language spoken, including mixed speech, and you can add a translation into one of 77 languages under each paragraph. The show notes are written in the translation language if you choose one, otherwise in the language of the episode.
Do the show notes cover the whole episode before I pay?
No. While the job is locked, the notes are written for the free part only, and the screen says so. After payment the rest is transcribed and the notes are rewritten from every minute.
How much does it cost?
An episode of up to 15 minutes is free in full. A longer one is $5, paid once, for up to 6 hours. Unlimited is $19 a week, renews weekly, cancel any time, and covers recordings up to 12 hours per job on every tool.
Is my episode private?
Only you can open your job. The audio is sent to an AI model provider only to process it and is not used to train models. Jobs started without an account are deleted after 7 days, and you can delete a job yourself at any time.
