For a solicitor, caseworker or court abroad
Since 2022 many Ukrainians have needed recordings understood by people who do not speak Ukrainian: a protection or asylum interview, a call with a former employer, a voice message that matters to a case, testimony about what happened at home. Upload the recording and the English translation appears under each Ukrainian paragraph, so the adviser reads English while the original stays next to it for anyone who wants to check.
Be clear about what this is. The transcript and translation are made by AI models and are drafts, not a certified transcript or sworn translation. Use them to understand the recording and to point a certified translator to the passages that matter.
Surzhyk and recordings that mix Ukrainian and Russian
Plenty of Ukrainians speak surzhyk, a blend of Ukrainian and Russian, or switch between the two depending on who they are talking to. The tool does not force such speech into "correct" Ukrainian. Ukrainian words are written in Ukrainian and Russian words in Russian, both in Cyrillic, which keeps the transcript honest as a record of what a person said. Keep Ukrainian as the spoken language when most of the recording is Ukrainian; if it is mostly Russian, select Russian instead.
Ukrainian has letters Russian lacks, such as і, ї, є and ґ, and uses an apostrophe inside words like м'ясо and п'ять. These are written as standard Unicode, so the text can be searched and pasted into documents without broken characters.
Names, places and dates in the English version
- Personal names can be romanized in several ways; replace them with the spelling in the passport or official documents
- Well-known places usually appear in their common English forms, such as Kyiv, Kharkiv and Lviv, but small villages may be spelled as they sound
- Dates and amounts: compare the English with the Ukrainian line above it
- Speaker labels can change number on long recordings because they are assigned per block of about ten minutes; correct them before renaming
Other long Ukrainian recordings
- University lectures and online classes followed from abroad
- Interviews for research, journalism and documentation projects
- Church services and family recordings for relatives in Poland, Germany, the UK or Canada

Questions and answers
Can ChatGPT translate a one-hour Ukrainian recording?
It can help with a short voice message. With an hour of audio, chat assistants tend to hit upload limits or return a summary instead of every sentence, and the order and timing get lost. Here every part of the recording is transcribed in Ukrainian and translated under each paragraph.
Is the English translation certified?
No. It is an AI translation to read and check. Courts and immigration authorities often require a certified or sworn translation; use this to see which passages need one.
Can I get only Ukrainian?
Yes. Set "Also translate" to none before you upload. You can also pick another listed language, such as German or Polish, instead of English.
What does it cost?
$5 once for a recording of up to 6 hours. Up to 15 minutes is free in full. Unlimited is $19 a week, up to 12 hours per job; cancel any time.
Who can see my recording?
Only you. It is sent to an AI model provider to be processed and is not used to train models. Jobs started without an account are deleted after 7 days, and you can delete a job at any time.
