Transcribe a Friday khutbah and translate it into English

Upload a recorded khutbah and get every part written in the language spoken: Arabic in Arabic script, and Urdu, Malay, Swahili or any other local language in its own script, with an English translation under every paragraph. An outline lists the texts cited and the main points with timestamps. Up to 15 minutes is free in full; a longer recording is $5, up to 6 hours.

A khutbah in two or three languages

Outside the Arab world, a Friday khutbah often mixes languages. The opening praise, the Quran verses and the closing duas are in Arabic, while the explanation is in Urdu, English, Malay, Indonesian, Turkish, Swahili, Somali or Bengali. Many mosques also hold a talk in the local language before the khutbah. The transcript writes each language as it was spoken, so an Arabic verse stays in Arabic script and an Urdu explanation stays in Urdu script, and the English line under each paragraph covers both.

The Friday khutbah is traditionally given in two parts with a short sitting between them. That pause appears as a gap in the timestamps, not as missing text.

How Quran and hadith quotations are handled

  • Verses are written in Arabic script as the khatib recites them, without full vowel marks
  • A surah name or ayah number appears only if it was said; the AI does not look up or add references
  • The English under a verse is an AI translation of what was recited, not a published translation, so compare it with one you trust before quoting
  • Hadith are written as narrated, with the narrator or collection only if named
  • This is not a tool for checking recitation or tajweed letter by letter

The outline

After the transcript, an outline is written from it: the theme as stated, scripture and texts cited as the speaker gave them, a summary, main points in order with timestamps, reminders and calls to action, duas, and memorable lines word for word. It describes what was said and adds no commentary, fiqh or theology of its own.

Who uses it

  • Mosque committees posting the week’s khutbah in English on their website or newsletter
  • Imams keeping a written archive of their khutbahs
  • Students and new Muslims who follow the Arabic only partly
  • Bayan and dars recordings of an hour or more

Questions and answers

Can ChatGPT transcribe and translate a khutbah?

For a few minutes of clear audio it can help. A full khutbah with a talk before it often exceeds the audio length limit, and long transcripts get shortened, so verses or whole passages can go missing.

Will it add surah and ayah numbers?

No. A reference appears only if the khatib said it. The AI does not identify verses or add citations.

What does a khutbah cost?

$5, paid once, for any recording up to 6 hours. A recording of up to 15 minutes is free in full, which covers many short khutbahs.

Can the translation be into Urdu or another language?

Yes. Change "Also translate" to Urdu, Malay, French or any other language in the list before you upload.

Who can see the recording?

Only you. It is sent to an AI model provider only to be processed and is not used to train models; you can delete the job at any time.
