Clean messy CSV data: stray spaces, capitals and invisible characters

Upload a messy CSV or Excel file and get it back with every cell trimmed, double spaces collapsed, invisible characters removed, emails in lowercase, names typed in capitals fixed, and empty and duplicate rows dropped. The rules are the same on every row and every run, and the screen shows how many cells were changed before you download. Files of up to 1,000 rows are free in full; bigger files are $5, paid once.

Clean a file

Remove duplicates

Column names or letters, separated by commas. Rows where these columns are empty are kept.

No sign-up. Up to 1,000 rows free in full. Longer: the counts and first rows free, the whole file $5, one payment.

By continuing you agree to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

The problems this fixes

Data copied from web pages, PDFs and old systems carries characters you cannot see: non-breaking spaces, zero-width spaces, byte order marks in the middle of a cell. They make two identical-looking values different, so lookups miss, filters split one category in two and imports reject a field. Every cell is cleared of them, trimmed, and its double spaces collapsed.

Columns whose header looks like an email are lowercased. Columns named like Name, Company, Customer, Contact or Vendor, or the ones you list, are capitalized word by word when a word is written in ALL CAPS or all lowercase; a name typed in mixed case, such as McKenzie or DeShawn, is left as it is. Company suffixes are written one way, so "Globex Corporation" and "GLOBEX CORP" both end in Corp.

What it does not change

Numbers, dates, codes and other text columns keep their values apart from the space and invisible character cleanup. The header row stays as it was, and a CSV comes back with the same delimiter and encoding. An Excel file comes back as a clean .xlsx of values, without formatting or formulas.

If you only want the cleanup and not the duplicate removal, choose "Keep all rows". Rows beyond your plan's limit, up to 200,000 for one payment or 500,000 with Unlimited, are copied unchanged at the end.

How the tool works, what it costs and how your files are handled is on the Clean a CSV page; prices for every tool are on the pricing page.

Questions and answers

How do I clean messy CSV data without writing formulas?

Upload the file. Every cell is trimmed and cleared of invisible characters, emails are lowercased, names in capitals are fixed, and empty and duplicate rows are removed. You download the clean file.

Can I clean the data but keep duplicate rows?

Yes. Choose "Keep all rows" and only the cell cleanup and empty row removal are applied.

Will it change my numbers or codes?

No, apart from removing stray spaces and invisible characters. Case changes apply only to email and name columns.

Is anything sent to an AI model?

No. All of this runs on our server with fixed rules. Only the optional AI name fix sends the distinct names of name columns to an AI model.

Is it free?

Yes for files of up to 1,000 rows, downloads included. Bigger files show the counts and the first cleaned rows free; the whole file is $5, paid once.
