Translate and categorize foreign-language reviews into English in one pass

Reviews from several countries arrive in several languages, and reading them one by one through a translator takes days. Upload the file and every review comes back with an English translation, a sentiment and up to three themes, all in new columns, with a summary in English that counts reviews per theme. The first reviews are free; up to 20,000 reviews are $5, paid once.

How to translate and categorize reviews

  1. 1

    Upload the mixed-language file

One review per row, any mix of languages. English is already chosen as the translation language; change it if you need another.

  2. 2

    Check the English themes

The theme list is built in English from a sample of your reviews, and the first reviews are translated and coded on screen, free.

  3. 3

    Download and read in English

Unlock for $5 and download the file with the translation column and the summary CSV.

One pass instead of two tools

Translating first and categorizing afterwards means two jobs and two files to line up. Here each review is read once in its own language: the model writes the English translation, the sentiment and the themes together, and all three land on the same row. Coding from the original text also keeps nuance that a translation can flatten, such as a polite complaint in Japanese or a sarcastic one in Spanish.

The theme list is built once, in English, from a sample of up to 150 reviews across the file, so a Spanish review about "envío" and an Arabic one about shipping are counted under the same English theme.

Things to know about the translations

  • Translations are machine translations meant for reading and analysis, not for publishing word for word
  • Very long reviews are shortened to their first 1,000 characters for the model; your file keeps the full original
  • Rows with several languages mixed are translated as a whole
  • Product names and brands usually stay as written

Questions and answers

Can ChatGPT translate and categorize 5,000 reviews?

It does both well for a handful of reviews. For thousands, the replies run out of room and the categories drift between batches. This tool translates and codes every review against one theme list and counts the result.

Which languages can the reviews be in?

Any language the model reads, mixed freely in one file, including Arabic, Spanish, German, French, Portuguese, Chinese and Japanese.

Can I translate into a language other than English?

Yes. Choose another language in the form; the themes and the summary then use that language.

How many reviews fit in one payment?

Up to 20,000 reviews for $5, translation included. Unlimited, $19 a week, covers up to 100,000 reviews.

Are my reviews private?

Only you can open your job. The text is sent to an AI model provider only to translate and code it, through routes that do not use your data for training. Jobs uploaded without an account are deleted after 7 days.
