Why the numbers matter
When a chat is read by someone else, a lawyer, a judge, an employer or a family member, a number on each message lets everyone point to the same line: "see message 412". The numbers follow the order of the export and do not change when you hide some messages before sharing, so a page you hand over still matches the full record.
A chat assistant can rewrite a short conversation, but with a long chat it summarizes or stops partway, and it cannot hear the voice notes inside the export. This tool prints every message from the export file itself, block by block, so the last message gets the same treatment as the first.
Checking that nothing is missing
- The cover page gives the number of messages, voice notes and attachments in the chat
- Deleted messages and system lines ("Messages are end-to-end encrypted", missed calls) appear where WhatsApp recorded them
- A voice note that cannot be understood is marked as such instead of being skipped
- A line shows where messages were left out on purpose, if you choose to hide some before downloading
- WhatsApp itself can leave the oldest messages out of an export with media; a very old chat may need a second export
Long chats
One payment of $5 covers a chat of up to 10,000 messages, however many voice notes it has. Unlimited, at $19 a week, covers chats of up to 30,000 messages. Besides the PDF you get a TXT file and a CSV with one row per message, number included, for searching or for a spreadsheet.

Questions and answers
Are the messages numbered in the PDF?
Yes. Every message has a number, starting at #1, followed by its date, time and sender. The same numbers are used in the TXT and CSV files and in the voice-note index.
How can I be sure nothing is missing?
The cover page states how many messages and voice notes the chat has. Compare it with the chat on your phone. Every message from the export file is printed; nothing is summarized or left out.
What about a chat with more than 10,000 messages?
One payment covers up to 10,000 messages. Unlimited covers chats of up to 30,000 messages. For a longer chat, write to [email protected].
Can I give only part of the chat to my lawyer?
Yes. Choose a period or certain people and hide phone numbers or addresses before you download. The remaining messages keep their original numbers, so they still match the full chat.
Is the PDF accepted as evidence?
That is for the court or agency to decide. The PDF is a readable record of the export, with the date and time of every message as WhatsApp recorded them.
