When a chat has to go to a lawyer
Many disputes are fought over WhatsApp messages: a separation and the arrangements for the children, a dismissal, a tenancy, a debt between friends. The lawyer or the court needs the whole conversation, in order, and the voice messages are often where the important things were said. A printout from the phone leaves them out; this PDF writes each one out where it was sent.
Because every message has a number, a lawyer can refer to "message 412" in a letter or a brief, and the other side can find it in the same PDF. If you hide some messages before downloading, the remaining ones keep their original numbers.
Dialects and Swiss German
Voice messages are written in standard German spelling. Regional speech from Bavaria, Austria or Saxony is written as it was said, with its words and expressions. Swiss German has no fixed spelling; it is written as close to standard German as the speech allows, so check the free first part for a chat in strong dialect.
Messages in other languages, such as Turkish, Arabic or English, are written in their own language. Choose a language under "Also translate" if the reader needs everything in one language.
Exporting the chat
- iPhone: open the chat, tap the name at the top, Export chat, Attach media
- Android: open the chat, the ⋮ menu, More, Export chat, Include media
- Upload the .zip file as it is; the voice messages are inside it
- Without media, the voice messages are missing from the export and cannot be written out

Is the PDF accepted by a German court?
That is for the court to decide. The PDF is a complete, readable record of the export, with every message in order and the SHA-256 fingerprint of the original file on the cover, so it can be checked against the export.
Can ChatGPT write out my WhatsApp voice messages?
It cannot open the audio files inside a WhatsApp export, and with a long chat it tends to summarise. This tool writes out every voice message and keeps every message in its place.
How much does it cost?
The first part is free without an account. The whole chat, up to 10,000 messages, is $5, paid once, no subscription.
What happens to my chat?
Only you can open the job. The audio is sent to an AI model provider only to be written out and is not used to train models. Jobs started without an account are deleted after 7 days, and you can delete a job at any time.
